CAV WINS PRAISE

The Villarreal striker Fernando Cavenaghi has praised the appointment of the new manager Marcelino Garcia Toral by saying that he is extremely satisfied with what he has seen so far. Villarreal have recently changed the manager after a run of poor results, which has left their chances of getting back into the Spanish la Liga in tatters. The club are currently in the middle of the table with many points to make up in order to get into the automatic promotion spot. Cavenaghi has said that the new manager has certainly impressed with his working style. He has said that the team and the players should have no regrets about the season so far because they have a very important match coming soon.

Cavenaghi has said that one of the reasons for the failure of the previous regime was the inability to get results on a consistent basis. Villarreal have several good results, which were often followed by disappointing draws and defeats against weaker opposition. Recently, their form has dipped and they are without a win in the last five matches. Their last victory over Alcorcón was also the lone victory that the club had achieved in seven matches. This has seen them slip closer to the bottom half of the table.

“It’s a week a little atypical because used to a new way of working makes it all a little different, but the reality is that there is no time for regrets. Should be thinking about work and within three days begins the second round with a very important match and we have to prepare thoroughly to be one hundred percent in that game,” said the striker. Cavenaghi has been one of the important first-team players for the club this season, but he has managed just four goals in 18 appearances.
