CITY CHASE RIVER STAR?

English club Manchester City are looking at the possibility of signing Argentine Ezequiel Cirigliano from River Plate in the summer. As a result of the relegation from the first division, River Plate are expected to lose a number of stars in the future. Ezequiel Cirigliano is expected to be the first of many high-profile departures from the club in the coming seasons after they appeared to have failed in the task of coming to the first division in their first attempt. River Plate are currently second in the Argentine second division table. They have lost their recent match, which has given Instituto the opportunity to open a one-point advantage at the top of the table.

Following the loss of many stars immediately after their relegation, River Plate managed to build a strong team after sourcing a number of players from their youth team. Ezequiel Cirigliano has been one such player, who has done extremely brilliant in the Argentine second division. However, he now looks set for a move to Europe after it was revealed that Manchester City are showing tremendous interest in the player, who has been a revelation in the Argentine second division. It remains to be seen if he can perform at the same level in Europe.

“City have been following Ezequiel since the start of 2010, when they sent him an invitation to England for a 20-day trial,” said Cirigliano’s agent Rodrigo Vilarino. It is thought that River Plate will be interested in opening talks with Manchester City over a proposed £ 15 million deal. With only a few matches remaining in the season, it remains to be seen if River Plate will be able to achieve promotion this season. River Plate are one of the biggest clubs in Argentina and this is the first-ever relegation in their history.
