RELEASED BY RIVER PLATE

Fernando Cavenaghi has been released by his club River Plate and he is without a contract at the moment. Cavenaghi had joined River Plate in the last season and he had performed brilliantly for the club. He featured for the club in 37 matches and scored 19 goals. After playing so well in the last season, he was expected to be retained by the club. But, that didn’t happen surprisingly. After signing for River Plate last year, Cavenaghi had said that he would like to play for Plate till the end of his career. But, unfortunately, he would have to leave the club.

Cavenaghi started playing for River Plate in 2000-01 season when he was just 18 years of age. He continued playing for Plate till the end of 2003-04 season. But, in the next season, he joined the Russian Club, Spartak Moscow. However, he wasn’t able to perform that well for the Russian club and he was released by the club at the start of the 2007-08 season. After that, he joined the French Club FC Girondins de Bordeaux. He remained with Bordeaux for 3 years and he performed quite well for the club. But, in the last season, he took transfer to his old club Plate.

After being released by Plate, Cavenaghi said that he tried to give his best for the club in the last season and he wanted to play for the club for many years. He is very disappointed to know that he has been released. But, that’s the way life goes on. He is looking forward to the further opportunities. Meanwhile, according to the reports, two Ligue 1 clubs i.e. Stade Rennais and As Saint-Etienne have shown interest in Cavenaghi. On being asked about that, Cavenaghi said that it would be wonderful if he gets a chance to play for a Ligue 1 club.
