Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who joined AC Milan in the summer on a free transfer, has revealed that he expects Fernando Torres to be a major success at the San Siro. The Chelsea striker moved to Milan on a two-year loan spell, which is likely to be converted into a permanent deal should he find his scoring boots once again. The 30-year-old has scored only around 30 league goals in more than 100 league appearances for Chelsea. His disappointing form has been going on for the last four years, which has brought the career of the striker to a standstill.

After the arrival of Diego Costa at Chelsea, it was becoming clear that Torres would not become a first choice striker. This would further limits his chances of rediscover his form, he decided to take the option of joining Milan, who recently sold their star striker Mario Balotelli in a £ 16 million deal to Liverpool. The absence of Balotelli is a key reason towards Torres joining Milan, as it would represent more first-team opportunities for the striker. It is widely expected that Torres will make his debut against Parma. Milan have made a great start to the campaign, but they need three points against Parma in order to go into next weekend’s match against Juventus with confidence.

“Fernando has always done incredible things. He will bring goals, speed, hard work and he can be very important,” said Lopez. “Torres had a difficult year, but he has great desire to do well. His physical tests were good and I hope that with him Milan will change greatly. I have seven strikers and I’m spoilt for choice, my task is to get the most out of them and to understand how to inter-change between them,” said manager Filippo Inzaghi.

The veteran Argentine attacker of River Plate Fernando Cavenaghi has been struggling trying to recover from an injury that has troubled him since the previous season. Even though his physical condition was affecting his performances in the past campaign, Cavenaghi still opted to play a number of matches as he wanted to help River Plate in their quest of securing more titles but he is now facing the consequences.

Cavenaghi unveiled details concerning his condition through his twitter account as he wrote that he was expecting the results of some tests he did involving his bursitis and physical state as the Argentine would like to know if he can perform anytime soon for his club but it does not seem like it’s going to happen.

‘’If I am asked today on when I will be able to play, I can’t properly answer. The first thing I want to accomplish is to not feel any pain in my body, specifically my legs’’ Cavenaghi said to a radio station.

The Argentine League has already kicked off but River Plate will have to cope without the services of Cavenaghi for an undefined lapse of time as the Argentine forward wants to be completely sure he is 100% fit and recovered from his recent string of injuries and physical problems which has caused him concern and struggle.

Rumors are rapidly growing and stating that the medical staff of River Plate has told already analyzed the results from Cavenaghi’s physical tests and he will not be able to perform at least for the next 6 months. These are the consequences that Cavenaghi is now facing after deciding to continue playing the majority of the matches of River Plate despite experiencing pain and not taking a break.
