Despite being the captain of River Plate, Fernando Cavenaghi has to compete for a chance to earn a spot in the starting lineup of the manager Marcelo Gallardo and his time with the Argentine club might be reaching it’s last stages according to rumors that are claiming that the future of the 31 year old player is being linked with the American League, the MLS.

Cavenaghi has a contract with River Plate which runs up until the summer in a few months and a number of clubs have been rumored to be interested in signing the player when he becomes a free agent. The Argentine player wants to make a move to a club and a league where the pressure isn’t as high compared to River Plate where he has turned into a captain and a role model for his teammates and even the slightest slip-up is noticed by the team and by the supporters of the club.

Sebastian Driussi, Juan Cruz Kaprof and Giovanni Simeone are some of Cavenaghi’s teammates who are also fighting for a chance to prove their worth and snatch a consistent spot in the team of Marcelo Gallardo. The main problem that Fernando Cavenaghi faces is that all of those players are 20 years old or even younger and it makes it difficult for him to compete against these younger players who are hungry and thirsty to play in every single match.

River Plate failed to get a win for the second consecutive match after the 2-2 draw with Quilmes at home. This was preceded by a 2-0 defeat against San Jose in the Copa Libertadores. River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo had taken a lot of precaution ahead of the match against San Jose.

This even involved the players taking a dose of Viagra in order to overcome the high-altitude problems. This failed to prevent a 2-0 loss and the aftermath of this defeat has been difficult. The club and its players were not at 100% againstQuilmes. It will take time for them to recover fully from the visit to Bolivia.

Gallardo says that the team should start playing more adventurous and ambitious football if they are to return to winning ways. The club take onBelgrano in the next league match. A victory for River Plate is absolutely essential if they are to challenge for the title. The club has taken only four points from the opening two matches. Since their start to the Copa Libertadores campaign has also not been great with the opening group game defeat, River Plate will have to recover quickly before the next game againstTigres UANL, who currently lead the table.

River Plate had a positive ending to 2014 after failing to win only one out of the last five matches.

A major reason behind this form was Colombian striker Teófilo Gutiérrez, who managed to score 10 goals in the 13 league matches last season. Even though these goals did not help River Plate win the title, it was a major step towards getting the club back to the glory days. River Plate finished just two points behind Racing Club after the end of the 19 game league campaign. Most of the goals scored by Gutiérrez came in the months of September and October. His presence was crucial for a team that were without Fernando Cavenaghi for much of the campaign.

Cavenaghi made only three appearances in the league and failed to even reach the five goals figure this campaign.

Diego Milito, the Racing Club striker, reckons that Gerardo Martino would be able to make Argentina a much stronger international team in his tenure.

Martino did not have a great time managing Barcelona and that’s why, a few people were of the view that he was not the best man to have been given the Argentina job, but, Milito thinks otherwise.

According to Milito, Martino might not have achieved that much success with Barcelona, but, when he was in charge of Paraguay, he was brilliant. He has a good idea how to coach international teams and it was a great decision by the Argentinean association to choose him as the replacement of Alejandro Sabella.

Milito, though, hailed Sabella’s work as well.

Speaking to a television channel yesterday, Milito said, “What Alejandro Sabella did was fantastic. But, I do believe that Gerardo is capable of doing a good job too. His record with Paraguay is great. He certainly knows a thing or two about managing the international sides.”

When asked where he sees Argentina in a few months’ time and if La Albiceleste would win Copa America title in 2015 after a gap of two decades, Milito said, “When a new guy takes over, he brings his own ideas and strategies to the table and as a player, it’s not easy to get adapted to that straightaway.”

“And, with a lot of Argentinean players playing overseas for different clubs, it gets even more difficult. The team gathers just a couple of days ahead of the match and the players and the manager don’t get a lot of time to spend together. So, it would take a little bit of time I guess, but, still, I would say this side can win Copa America with the experience that it has now.”

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who joined AC Milan in the summer on a free transfer, has revealed that he expects Fernando Torres to be a major success at the San Siro. The Chelsea striker moved to Milan on a two-year loan spell, which is likely to be converted into a permanent deal should he find his scoring boots once again. The 30-year-old has scored only around 30 league goals in more than 100 league appearances for Chelsea. His disappointing form has been going on for the last four years, which has brought the career of the striker to a standstill.

After the arrival of Diego Costa at Chelsea, it was becoming clear that Torres would not become a first choice striker. This would further limits his chances of rediscover his form, he decided to take the option of joining Milan, who recently sold their star striker Mario Balotelli in a £ 16 million deal to Liverpool. The absence of Balotelli is a key reason towards Torres joining Milan, as it would represent more first-team opportunities for the striker. It is widely expected that Torres will make his debut against Parma. Milan have made a great start to the campaign, but they need three points against Parma in order to go into next weekend’s match against Juventus with confidence.

“Fernando has always done incredible things. He will bring goals, speed, hard work and he can be very important,” said Lopez. “Torres had a difficult year, but he has great desire to do well. His physical tests were good and I hope that with him Milan will change greatly. I have seven strikers and I’m spoilt for choice, my task is to get the most out of them and to understand how to inter-change between them,” said manager Filippo Inzaghi.

The veteran Argentine attacker of River Plate Fernando Cavenaghi has been struggling trying to recover from an injury that has troubled him since the previous season. Even though his physical condition was affecting his performances in the past campaign, Cavenaghi still opted to play a number of matches as he wanted to help River Plate in their quest of securing more titles but he is now facing the consequences.

Cavenaghi unveiled details concerning his condition through his twitter account as he wrote that he was expecting the results of some tests he did involving his bursitis and physical state as the Argentine would like to know if he can perform anytime soon for his club but it does not seem like it’s going to happen.

‘’If I am asked today on when I will be able to play, I can’t properly answer. The first thing I want to accomplish is to not feel any pain in my body, specifically my legs’’ Cavenaghi said to a radio station.

The Argentine League has already kicked off but River Plate will have to cope without the services of Cavenaghi for an undefined lapse of time as the Argentine forward wants to be completely sure he is 100% fit and recovered from his recent string of injuries and physical problems which has caused him concern and struggle.

Rumors are rapidly growing and stating that the medical staff of River Plate has told already analyzed the results from Cavenaghi’s physical tests and he will not be able to perform at least for the next 6 months. These are the consequences that Cavenaghi is now facing after deciding to continue playing the majority of the matches of River Plate despite experiencing pain and not taking a break.

Some weeks ago it was believed that Fernando Cavenaghi was going to miss out from his clubs’ pre-season trip to United States as the captain of River Plate had to undergo a surgery process in order to solve the physical condition he sustained in the past campaign but it has now been revealed that the Argentinean attacker has agreed on taking up a different medical procedure that will allow him to travel to Miami with his teammates.

The medic of River Plate, Pedro Hansing revealed some details concerning the condition of Pedro Cavenaghi:

‘’When the time arrives and we have to travel to USA, Cavenaghi will remain here and undergo his scheduled procedure. Cavenaghi had a tough season as he picked up an injury that could not be resolved and with his decision to continue playing despite his ongoing problems has now taken a toll on the veteran forward who has to settle his knee problem through a conservative treatment that is going to improve his toe that recently got inflated’’.

The purpose of this procedure is to reduce the effects of his injury and to increase the speed of his recovery before the upcoming season starts. A needle will be inserted to the damaged tissue of his toe in a process similar to acupuncture and this method is fairly more conservative which will allow him to travel along with the teammates of his club and their trip to United States is a viable option although he is not expected to play.

Bursitis is a physical condition which is commonly caused by repetitive and minor impacts on a specific area of the human body and this injury can take longer to recover from depending on the age of the person affected by it as well as overuse of the joint which is the case of Fernando Cavenaghi as he decided to continue playing with River Plate during the past season even though the Argentinean attacker had already started suffering from this problem.

By claiming the 6th spot of the Spanish League Villareal earned their ticket for the Europa League of next season which was one of the primary targets that the club wanted to do and the president of Villareal, Fernando Roig expressed his delight about the position they secured as well as he went talking about the near future.

“The season has been extraordinary, for everything we have achieved in the sport and especially in terms of economical balance. It’s not easy to finish sixth in the best league in the world, whilst being the 40th or 50th in the Uefa ranking. As a whole, we consider the season excellent and are proud of the work that we have done’’.

‘’We are very happy for the team and as the goals have been met, it’s a team that has done things well. The key to the reinforcements is to fill in where we have less. What I am sure about is that the team will be better. Next season the vast majority of our players will have more experience.” The president of Villareal, Fernando Roig stated.

The head coach of the club, Marcelino Garcia does not want to fall behind in the summer transfer window and now that Villareal has earned their spot in the Europa League the Spanish side will have a tougher season when it starts in a few months.

Antonio Rukavina is a 30 years defender that Villareal attempted to sign last year but Valladolid rejected all the offers that was launched at him but this will not stop Villareal from trying it once more and they will take advantage of the clause in Rukavina’s contract which will allow the defender on making a move away from Valladolid on a free transfer after Valladolid suffered from being relegated
