Fernando Cavenaghi has had a very beautiful career in which he has represented River Plate, Spartak Moscow, Bordeaux, Villareal and APOEL.
He had three goal laden spells at River Plate and he spent a total of seven years at the club during his career.
The 33-year old has played in many countries such as Argentina, Russia, France, Spain and Greece. He has proven to be a good leader and his career underlines just that. At the age of 20, he was already playing regularly for Argentinian outfit River Plate. This immediately prompted attractions from a number of elite European clubs including Juventus but he instead chose to sign for Spartak Moscow.
He spent three years at Spartak Moscow before moving on to Bordeaux where he grew into an idol at the club. He won a total of five trophies at the club, including the Ligue 1 title. However, he soon left the French side for Spanish minnows, Mallorca. He had a good time at the club scoring 2 goals in 11 games.
Fernando Cavenaghi believes that his former club Villareal can have a good season this term.
The player who played for Villareal during the period 2012-2013 said that Villareal is a club on the rise and that they can have a good season.
Fernando Cavenaghi said that La Liga had become a competitive league now and it is not only Real Madrid and Barcelona that can win the title. He said that teams such as Atletico Madrid and Sevilla could also cause upset by beating the top sides. He believes that Villareal can also cause problem with the quality of the players they have and also the determination they show on the pitch
Fernando Cavenaghi said that the team had changed so much from the time he played there and believes that the fans deserve it. He stated that the Villareal fans are a set of sincere supporters and that they deserve to have a team that will give them something to cheer.
Despite the additions to the Liverpool squad this term, it seems there would be more. Reports say the Reds are keen on adding Argentine Lucas Alario to their ranks. Liverpool already submitted a bid of £8.5 million to River Plate, but it was rejected. The release clause of Alario is £15.2 million, and it might be difficult to meet such demands considering the options already in the line-up.
Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen have extended their deals at White Hart Lane, and Danny Rose is expected to tow the same path. However, it seems Tottenham are not done spending or planning to spend money. Alario has a lot of good reviews in his native, and Spurs are ready to battle Liverpool for him.
This might be old news, but for those who are not aware as to whom Fernando plays for, it he signed up for APOLEC FC a long time back, in August of last year.
Many would not have thought that this is the way he would have ended up meeting Markus Holgersson again but it did occur. There were a lot of rumors about Fernando moving to MLS as well as a whisper about how he might join New York Red Bulls. However, the whispers do have some credibility as the man himself had stated that he might have offered to join teams in US.
Rumors about Cavenaghi joining back MLS became ripe around August. He won the Copa Liberadores at a time when the MLS window for transfers was about to close. Real Salt Lake was a prime candidate to service the 31 year old Argentine player. The rumors came to an end in August. Cavenaghi had signed up for APOEL FC which was confirmed at that time.
Former Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao will have at least one escape route at the end of the season.
The currently struggling Blues
Striker might go the way of Fernando Cavenaghi should new incoming manager Antonio Conte sanction the permanent signing of the Colombia international, after former club River Plate stated their intention to re-sign the player this summer.
Cavenaghi who is currently taking a break from active football returned to River Plate after having left in 2004. He returned on a free transfer as he struggled with form in Bordeaux in 2011. After playing at River, he moved on to Spanish side, Villarreal FC the following year. Cavenaghi returned again in last year from CF Pachuca before moving to APOEL Nicosia.
Falcao, 30, has endured a nightmare two-year spell in the Premier league and may return to warmer climes in order to reignite his career. The sriker was signed by former Chelsea tactician, Jose Mourinho last summer following the departure of Didier Drogba, but has failed to fill the void left by the Ivorian, making just one Premier League start during a campaign beset with concerns over his form and fitness.
The Argentinean football player Fernando Cavenaghi who was forced to end his contract in Cyprus due to his knee injury on the right leg is soon going to be back in form.
The player had to undergo an arthroscopic surgery and fortunately things turned out well. A few weeks ago, there was a communication sent across by Torito about the termination of contract with Apoel Nicosia and he would not be permitted to play till the end of the season. However, the surgery was completed with good results.
There is no denying that Fernando Cavenaghi has been one of the best strikers in River. This second top goal scorer in Primera division of Argentina scored 11 goals. Although the striker expressed the termination of his career and left the team after winning the title of Club Champion of South American continent, there is rumor about of his return. The player has decided to focus on his injured knee and go on rehabilitation for about six months and the surgery has already yielded best results in terms of his recovery.
Germany ran past everything in their path during their 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign, it was a very convincing string of performances that the German national side displayed throughout the entire tournament.
The German nation are the favorites of winning the impending football tournaments including the 2016 Euro’s and the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Joachim Low is especially confident now that the results for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification draw was completed and Germany was pitted in what seems to be a very simple group.
Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, Norway, Azerbaijan and San Marino are all of the opponents of Germany in the qualification phases of the 2018 World Cup and Joachim Low had some words to say in relation to his opponents.
Germany’s Joachim Low said: “We have an interesting group against good opponents. And we are of course pleased with the draw. It’s clear that we want to be, as a world champion, group winners and we are the favorites. The Czech Republic, Norway and Northern Ireland are very ambitious and have always had very good results in recent years.’’
River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo has confirmed that striker Fernando Cavenaghi will be leading the team for the all-important clash against Tigres in the Copa Libertadores.
The club could only manage a 0-0 draw the first leg, which puts the tie in delicate balance going into the second leg. This is the final stages of the 2015 Copa Libertadores andGallardo will feel an accomplished man if his team comes out on the right side. His task has been tough due to the unavailability of some key players like Mora. Hence, Cavenaghi will be starting the game along with Lucas Alario as a pair.
This should see River Plate going into the game with sufficient strength in attack due to the experience of Cavani. This experience is also a key factor in helpingGallardo decide the captain for the match. The former Villarreal forward will be leading the players against Tigres. Gallardo will be hoping that Cavani makes his job a little bit easier. The manager will not be allowed to stand in the touchline due to a suspension. However, he has confirmed that this will not prevent him from making an impact on the team as he has thought of other ways to do so.
Argentina might have absolutely smashed Bolivia the other day by a big margin of 5 goals, but, if their manager Gerardo Martino is to be believed, the performance of the team was not perfect and it needs to get better considering the kind of opponents that are waiting in line in the near future.
Copa America is just about to start and Argentina enters it as one of the favourites, but, according to Martino, the challenge is tough as the other teams that are there in the tournament, they all possess quality.
Speaking post the Bolivia game, Martino said, “The level of competition in Copa America will be high. There are a number of good teams and we must play better than how we played today.”
“However, I don’t believe in going too much into the performances in the friendly games. You are always a little circumspect about not injuring yourself. You don’t go all out. However, we won 5-0 which is always a big confidence booster, winning by that much.”
“I think we are in good shape ahead of the tournament (Copa America), but, so are the other teams and thus, we have to keep improving.”
Despite being the captain of River Plate, Fernando Cavenaghi has to compete for a chance to earn a spot in the starting lineup of the manager Marcelo Gallardo and his time with the Argentine club might be reaching it’s last stages according to rumors that are claiming that the future of the 31 year old player is being linked with the American League, the MLS.
Cavenaghi has a contract with River Plate which runs up until the summer in a few months and a number of clubs have been rumored to be interested in signing the player when he becomes a free agent. The Argentine player wants to make a move to a club and a league where the pressure isn’t as high compared to River Plate where he has turned into a captain and a role model for his teammates and even the slightest slip-up is noticed by the team and by the supporters of the club.
Sebastian Driussi, Juan Cruz Kaprof and Giovanni Simeone are some of Cavenaghi’s teammates who are also fighting for a chance to prove their worth and snatch a consistent spot in the team of Marcelo Gallardo. The main problem that Fernando Cavenaghi faces is that all of those players are 20 years old or even younger and it makes it difficult for him to compete against these younger players who are hungry and thirsty to play in every single match.
